Voting Mechanism

AWJ & PenME have instituted a dedicated, comprehensive, website to facilitate and streamline the processes of registration, nomination, voting, selection and adjudication of entries to the First Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards

The Awards will be presented in ten watches categories and in five categories each for jewellery and pens and a new category dedicated to the young Arab jewellery designers as detailed in the Awards Categories.

The three-pronged approach will ensure the independence and professionalism of the selection process and comprises the following:

Phase I: Companies / Brands present their nominations for evaluation by the committee and short listing.

Phase II: The general public will be invited to vote through an extensive media campaign to run in the Arabic and English language newspapers and magazines & television commercials in the GCC, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt.

As an incentive to participate in this on-line voting via a dedicated website a total 2 premium watches will be provided to individual, participating voters randomly drawn by the computer towards the conclusion of the voting process. Only one vote per email address will be allowed.

Phase III: Votes cast on-line and the ballots cast by the committee will be merged by independent external auditors and the results will be maintained in state of complete secrecy until the sealed envelopes are open at the Gala Presentation Ceremony.

It is important to note that a higher 70 % weightage in voting will be given to the Awards Committee and 30 % to individual voters. This implies that voters will only account for 30 % of the deciding-mechanism process.

A final, comprehensive audit and tally of all eligible votes cast will be independently conducted by Pan Arab Research Centre (PARC), part of the world-wide Gallup Group in the Middle East.
